Congressman Andy Biggs has introduced a pair of bills which seek to defund Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg’s office, requires he repay federal grants from the past year, and prohibits his office from using federal resources to prosecute candidates for President.
Biggs’ point of contention is that Bragg has allowed an environment of lawlessness to pervade his district as he pursues the political prosecution of Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump.
“I just introduced legislation to hold DA Alvin Bragg accountable for failing to address lawlessness and for utilizing federal resources in the political prosecution of President Trump,” the Arizona Rep said on Twitter.
The bills were obtained exclusively by the Daily Caller.
The ‘Accountability for Lawless Violence In Our Neighborhoods Act’ – or ALVIN Act – prohibits federal funds from being awarded to the Manhattan DA’s Office and requires they repay such funds granted after January 1, 2022.
Additionally, the ‘No Federal Funds for Political Prosecutions Act’ prohibits state or local law enforcement agencies from using funds to prosecute the President or candidate for President at the cost of diverting resources to address crime in their own district.

Biggs is Gunning For Alvin Bragg
Representative Andy Biggs (R-AZ) has been critical of Alvin Bragg’s decision to pursue former President Donald Trump from the start.
“Never in my life have I seen America’s institutions as weaponized against conservatives as they are today,” he said when the indictment was first announced.
Trump has been charged with 34 counts of falsifying business records in the first degree, low-level felonies in New York State but which carry a potential for a 4-year prison sentence each.
He has pleaded not guilty.
“A Leftist District Attorney funded and selected by George Soros has elevated a misdemeanor stemming from a minuscule accounting error into a felony due to his opposition to the former president’s politics,” Biggs commented.

Biggs surmised that Bragg had spent his tenure ignoring “rampant crime in America’s largest city” and instead opting to “abus(e) his power for political gain.”
“District Attorney Alvin Bragg ran on a campaign pledge to indict President Trump,” he pointed out in a statement Thursday to the Daily Caller.
Bragg, during his campaign, said he would continue the work of investigating Trump begun by his predecessor and that he would hold the presidential candidate “accountable by following the facts where they go.”

Massie Wants Bragg Disbarred
Also seeking to hold Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg accountable for his prosecutorial overreach is fellow Republican Representative Thomas Massie (KY).
Massie used his Twitter feed to call for Bragg to be “disbarred and removed from office.”
He said Bragg’s politically motivated pursuit of Trump is “an egregious abuse of the legal system for political purposes and threatens the fabric of our judicial system.”
Alvin Bragg should be disbarred and removed from office. This is an egregious abuse of the legal system for political purposes and threatens the fabric of our judicial system.

The two bills brought forth by Biggs have been co-sponsored by just five other Republican lawmakers.
Representatives Mary Miller (IL), Eli Crane (AZ), Paul Gosar (AZ), Ralph Norman (SC), and Bob Good (VA) have each signed on.
