“So this is how liberty dies … with thunderous applause.”
Saturday night saw the Target Center in Minneapolis transition into a political platform, happening as a result of the home-opening game for the Minnesota Lynx against the Atlanta Dream being taken over by a fan yelling “f*ck ICE.”
Prior to the public address announcer speaking, the Lynx franchise had a moment of silence for Alex Pretti and Renee Nicole Good, who were two residents of the area killed in January amid operations involving U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). “Please join us in honoring Renee Nicole Good and Alex Pretti with a moment of silence,” stated the arena announcer.
He went on to say, “We continue to extend our love, support and heartfelt sympathies to Renee and Alex’s families, friends and our community.”
The moment of silence went just a few seconds prior to a fan shouting “f*ck ICE” while in the stands.

As you just saw and heard, the fan’s words were met with “thunderous applause,” which actually reminds me of the scene from “Star Wars: Revenge of the Sith” when Senator Padmé Amidala responds in a state of shock to Sheev Palpatine declaring himself as emperor. If you’ve seen the movie, you know that the shift was cheered by the Galactic Senate.
“So this is how liberty dies … with thunderous applause,” said Amidala in the scene that you can watch here.
And this is exactly what happened in Minneapolis.
Most people like to complain about our government, and fair enough, but at the particular time, our government was trying to help the American people by getting rid of criminal illegal aliens. But instead of letting the government free them of the filth in their city, some residents chose to resist ICE and kept the chains of enslavement on, which carries to the Lynx game, where “f*ck ICE” was applauded.
And thunderously. So, this is how liberty dies, huh?
