Far left influencer Hasan Piker expressed concern to his followers over a Treasury Department investigation into his trip to Cuba earlier this year, admitting, “it’s not great.”
Federal investigators served subpoenas to Piker and Code Pink’s Medea Benjamin as part of a probe into the “Nuestra America Convoy,” according to Fox News. The convoy consisted of a group of North American and European activists who traveled to Havana in March, purportedly to offer humanitarian aid and protest President Donald Trump’s blockade of the island. “It’s not great,” Piker said during a livestream Sunday afternoon. “The news is not great, okay? Um, I mean, it’s bullshit. But still not great … I mean it’s bullshit but still not great that they’re after your boy. They’re up my ass.”
Piker alleged that he was being politically targeted by the Trump administration for being a “loudmouth” and “rabble-rouser” in his criticism of Israel and support for anti-Israel political candidates.
The subpoena requires Piker to fork over financial, logistical, and communications information related to the trip. Federal officials are reportedly investigating whether Piker and the group he traveled with violated U.S. laws and sanctions against providing support to Cuba’s communist regime.

Piker was criticized during the trip for staying in a luxury hotel while Cubans experienced nationwide blackouts, though Piker claimed the U.S. sanctions required him to stay in specific five-star hotels. Treasury’s Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) prohibits U.S. travelers from staying in lodging owned by the Cuban government or military. Piker and the groups he traveled with may also be scrutinized for allegedly coordinating the transfer of aid with the Cuban regime or entities linked to the regime.
The online streamer claims that the trip was fully “cleared by Treasury.”
“I’m seemingly going to be made an example of … in America’s galloping toward fascism,” Piker said.
