CNN host Abby Phillip on Thursday pushed back against Katie Miller for likening an insult on social media of her husband, White House deputy chief of staff Stephen Miller, to the “violent political rhetoric” she says fueled the assassination attempts on President Donald Trump.
“This is the same violent political rhetoric that is leading people to shooting up, whether it be the White House Correspondents’ Dinner or President Trump in Butler,” Katie Miller said Wednesday during a Fox News interview on “The Ingraham Angle.”
The “violent” post in question came from the official X account of the Democratic Party after Stephen Miller said Democratic Texas Senate candidate James Talarico is the “first transgender candidate” — and the DNC commented, “shut up, you ugly fuck.”
Phillip argued Katie Miller was “throwing stones from a glass house” by citing her own posts.
“In addition to outing the Democrats’ social media manager, claiming that she’s childless and unmarried ― even though she’s apparently engaged ― and therefore unhappy. Miller has repeatedly insulted liberals online,” Phillip said.
“In just the past few months, she’s suggested that liberal men aren’t attractive. She’s called liberalism a disease. She’s used the R-word to refer to Gov. Gavin Newsom, and that’s just a few of the many insults,” The “NewsNight” host continued.
Katie Miller wrote on X last month that liberal men “aren’t attractive.” She also shared an apparent poll indicating 60% of “extremely liberal men” between 35 and 45 years old are childless, prompting Rep. Shri Thanedar (D-Mich.) to dunk on her with a photo of Stephen Miller.
Phillip continued dismissing outcries from MAGA voices like Katie Miller, as Trump Republicans have openly insulted their political opponents with far worse rhetoric. She presented examples by quoting a few social media posts from White House communications director Steven Cheung in which he used the R-word to insult lawmakers.
Phillip added, “I mean, this is a person who works in the government. He travels with the president. He tweets from official accounts. So I don’t know. How are you comparing saying someone’s husband is ugly to, you know, violence in politics? It just doesn’t make any sense.”
