The Black Crowes dissed American patriots during Sunday’s concert in Florida, prompting immediate backlash from fans.
The rock band projected its mascot dressed as Uncle Sam onto a giant screen during their concert, and fans erupted into chants of “U.S.A.! U.S.A!” But the patriotic moment took a sharp turn when frontman Chris Robinson challenged the crowd’s view of their country.
“Thanks for the geography lesson,” Robinson quipped.
He doubled down and continued with the tense exchange with his own fans.
“I don’t know what you have to be so proud of right now,” he said.
Boos immediately filled the space, but the fallout didn’t stop with verbal pushback.

Within a few moments, a steady flow of fans began heading for the exit, as seen in a video shared May 2 by TMZ.
Some remained at their seats, and a few could be heard cheering Robinson on, but a significant chunk of paying Black Crowes fans decided the concert was no longer of interest, and left the area, seemingly in protest of Robinson’s comments.

Robinson seemed unaffected by their departure.
He continued to banter while fans booed.
“Some of us have real faith,” he said, as people continued filing out. (RELATED: Martina McBride, Bret Michaels, The Commodores Among List Of Artists Bailing From Great American State Fair)
“For those of you fucking booing us, some of us are not afraid,” Robinson said. “And we most assuredly are not fucking ignorant.”
The Black Crowes are on their “Southern Hospitality tour,” which includes a June 2 stop in St. Augustine, Florida, and a June 4 tour stop in Augusta, Georgia. The band reached its height of fame in the 1990s.
