President Donald Trump returned to the White House in the wee hours of the morning on Thursday after the G7 summit in France ― and immediately posted a middle-of-the-night rant on his Truth Social website.
Trump attacked skeptics of his deal ending nearly four months of hostilities with Iran as “fools” and “jealous, bad people, or stupid.”
But that group includes members of his own party, who are skeptical of a deal that they say does not achieve the key objectives set out earlier.
The president wasn’t pleased with that criticism.
At 4:32 a.m. ― about half an hour after returning to the White House ― the president wrote:
“These fools, who think I haven’t been tough enough on Iran, when the Stock Market Just Hit A RECORD HIGH, and Oil prices are ‘tumbling’ down, are either jealous, bad people, or stupid. MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!! President DJT”
Trump’s deal with Iran will end the fighting, reopen the Strait of Hormuz and lift U.S. sanctions as the nations work on a larger treaty. Iran will also receive up to $300 billion for the “rehabilitation and economic development” of the country.
Trump has said that money will not come from the United States.
The two nations now have 60 days to work on a permanent deal.
