Matt Miller, an NFL Draft analyst for ESPN, revealed Tuesday morning that his left arm has been amputated following a severe car crash in Missouri
A father of two, Miller took to his Twitter account, @nfldraftscout, to shed light on his situation.
“Last week, I was involved in a serious car accident in Missouri and was airlifted to Mercy Hospital. I’m deeply grateful for the exceptional care I have received, from the first responders to the doctors, nurses and medical staff. I’m incredibly fortunate to be writing this,” posted Miller. From there, Miller disclosed his injuries and the extent of them.
“As a result of the accident, I sustained significant injuries, including multiple fractures and broken ribs,” said Miller. “I also underwent a life-saving amputation of my left arm. While I have a long road ahead, I’m focused on my recovery and taking things one day at a time.”
Miller expressed that he is thankful to the people who have contacted him, and also spoke about his next steps.

“Thank you for the overwhelming support, prayers and kind messages — they have meant so much to me and my family during this time,” tweeted Miller.
“I look forward to continuing my recovery and getting back to ESPN to talk football, including what should be an exciting 2027 NFL Draft class.”
KOAM News first reported on the June 17 car crash, which took place in Jasper County.
Driving a 2023 Bronco, the driver was reportedly on Missouri Route 96 when he was crossed the center line and ultimately collided with a semi-truck. No injuries were reported to the semi-truck driver. Miller’s friends identified him as a driver when speaking to KOAM and stated that he has a long recovery ahead of him.
For five years, Miller has worked for ESPN, with his current gig being as a draft analyst that’s year-round. Prior to working with the four-letter network, he was Bleacher Report’s lead NFL Draft writer for more than 10 years.
