A second-grade teacher in Georgia is gaining plenty of attention after she sniffed out a possible solution to a lingering problem in her class: farting students.
Sydney-Browning refers to the area as her “gas station,” but the exact place where students actually let ’em rip is called the “gusty winds area.”
And yes, there is an air freshener nearby to mask odors after emission.
Sydney-Browning said that when she started teaching at the school, she noticed many students were leaving her classroom to answer nature’s call.
To maximize students’ learning, she had them use the restroom before lessons.
But the second-graders’ toots were another problem, she admitted.
“I have a very weak stomach, so I cannot take it,” she said. “And so I was like, OK, I’m just gonna create this little area over here, and you just get up, you go over there, do your business, come back, and that’s just it.”
She explained how the “gas station” works on a TikTok video that has since gone viral.
But a few people had some big ‘buts’ about possible issues with a designated place to pooter.
One person did see the positives in Sydney-Browning’s idea and suggested that fart corners could be a great incentive for companies trying to get employees to return to the office.
