Tucker Carlson declared Friday that President Donald Trump should be “immediately” removed from office if he is considering the use of nuclear weapons. He also questioned why there aren’t already efforts to do so.
“The second any president actively considers first-use of nuclear weapons. that person should be removed from office immediately. Immediately, because that’s gotta be the red line, destroying all of humanity with a nuclear strike,” Carlson said, adding, “So why isn’t there an attempt to remove him from office, like, immediately?”
The former Trump ally noted that if asked, the White House would “say the president has never suggested using nukes.” But, Carlson argued, that’s “not true” because Trump has threatened “the total destruction” of Iran and its civilization.
“There’s only one way to achieve that, the total destruction of a civilization, and that’s with nuclear weapons. And so, openly in public for the world to see … the U.S. president has threatened the use of nuclear weapons in this war.” Carlson told his guest Joe Kent, Trump’s ex- director of the National Counterterrorism Center who resigned in protest over the Iran war.
The podcaster said that anyone who suggests using nuclear weapons offensively “is dangerous, is a crazy person, is in fact a criminal.”
“That person is by definition a lunatic, a dangerous lunatic, who should not only be removed from any decision-making authority, but probably should go to jail, like, immediately, especially in a country that routinely puts people in jail for, I don’t know, tax evasion,” Carlson said.
“Any leader of any country who suggests first-use of nuclear weapons has forfeited his right to lead. He has to be removed immediately,” he reiterated. “Anyone who would even tolerate that kind of talk from any of his subordinates or employees is, by definition, unfit. That’s the total destruction of the world, no?”
