Jimmy Kimmel on Tuesday night called out President Donald Trump for seeming to drift off during a Sept. 11 ceremony last week.
“At the event, Teddy Doze-evelt got in a pretty good nap,” Kimmel said, adding that the White House had to send out a statement insisting the president wasn’t asleep.
“They said he was just ‘solemnly listening,’” Kimmel said. “Which is the same kind of ‘solemnly listening’ Melania does when he tries to crawl in bed with her.”
Kimmel called out Trump for hypocrisy given how frequently he attacked former President Joe Biden.
“It’s so perfect,” Kimmel said. “The guy who spent four years screaming, ‘Sleepy Joe, Sleepy Joe,’ constantly falling asleep on camera.”
Kimmel rolled nearly a minute of clips of Trump seeming to nod off in public at everything from sports events to Oval Office meetings.
But he did find one positive thing to say about the president.
“Compared to Mitch McConnell,” he cracked, “Trump has more energy than Kevin Hart.”
