Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth could barely contain his excitement Thursday when discussing an upcoming execution of a man by firing squad. And he wants you to watch.
“We’ll make sure that people are able to watch it,” Hegseth told MAGA influencer and conspiracy theorist Jack Posobiec.
Hegseth, speaking aboard the USS Abraham Lincoln after it returned from its record 10-month-long deployment, was referring to an execution set to take place later this year.
Former Army Maj. Nidal Malik Hasan is set to be killed on Dec. 3 for the 2009 shooting rampage at Fort Hood, Texas, in which Hasan killed 13 people. On Monday, President Donald Trump approved Hasan’s execution by firing squad, the first time the U.S. military has carried out the death penalty since 1961.
Asked about Hasan’s upcoming execution, Hegseth excitedly spilled details.
“No-brainer,” Hegseth said. “Execution by firing squad. Army major betrays his country, radical Islamist, kills a bunch of Americans at Fort Hood ― of course we’re going to do it at Fort Hood.”
Hegseth said Hasan will be fatally shot on a Thursday at one o’clock in the afternoon, because that’s when Hasan carried out his attack.
“And it’s gonna be soldiers with rifles executing the firing squad,” he added.
That’s when Hegseth promised to let others join in on his bloodlust.
“And we’ll make sure that people are able to watch it, that it’s public, because people need to understand that there’s serious consequences for these types of things,” he said, later adding, “We’ll see him on Dec. 3.”
