Jennifer Sey, an ex-women’s gymnast for Team USA, attended the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner on Saturday in Washington D.C. However, the night was ruined after shots rang out.

Speaking with Fox News Digital, Sey reacted to the shooting. (RELATED: Dana White Proves He’s American Badass With ‘F*cking Awesome’ Response To White House Correspondents’ Dinner Shooting)

“Terrifying. Should have been an amazing night. I came to celebrate free speech and those who believe in it. As I walked in and there were protesters I was scared for a moment and then I thought it’s ok. I was wrong,” said Sey, adding that she had to take cover “under table.”

Jennifer Sey’s career as a gymnast is headlined by her being the USA Gymnastics National Champion in 1986 and a part of the U.S. Women’s National Team seven times. Sey won the national championship after her recovery following a broken femur injury that occurred in 1985. Her resume also features a third-place finish in International Mixed Pairs team competition, and in 1987, she racked up a team finish of second place during the USA-URS Dual Meet.

Sey also founded XX-XY Athletics, an activist sportswear brand, which led her into activism associated with “save women’s sports” and other conservative causes over the past few years.

Gunshots set off chaos Saturday night at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner, forcing the swift removal of President Donald Trump and First Lady Melania Trump from the Washington Hilton ballroom. Law enforcement apprehended the alleged shooter.
