Law enforcement officials took the rare step of identifying an underage suspect in the shocking attempted murder on a school bus, and the 15-year-old is a suspect in another murder as well.
The first incident unfolded on May 1 when three masked figures jumped onto a school bus on its last stop in Suitland, near Washington, D.C. One teenager pulled out a gun, pointed it at a 14-year-old, and pulled the trigger three times.
The gun jammed all three times, and police found three unspent rounds on the bus later.
The three teens then beat up the victim and left the school bus.
Prince George’s County Police have been able to take into custody three of the teens, but a third one known only as “Baby K” is the subject of a manhunt that is being joined by the U.S. Marshalls.
The 15-year-old is also being sought as a suspect in the murder of a woman two days after the school bus incident. 23-year-old Kaijah McCoy was found dead in an apartment with a gunshot to her face. McCoy is the sister of one the accomplices to the school bus crime.
Police were able to arrest a 14-year-old girl they believe ordered the attack on the school bus based on texts that she allegedly sent to the assailants about the victim just minutes before they got on the bus.
There is a $12,500 reward for information leading to his arrest for the school bus attack and $25,000 reward for the murder of McCoy.
“Baby K” is charged with attempted first-degree murder, attempted second-degree murder, assault, firearms offenses, and other charges. He will also be charged as an adult.
