‘1923’, ‘Yellowstone’ Stars Reveal How Dirty Life Can Be On Set

The female stars of “Yellowstone” and “1923” detailed their dirty experiences on set in People’s 2023 Beautiful Issue, published Monday.

“Yellowstone’s” Kelsey Asbille (Monica Long Dutton), Jen Landon (Teeter), Piper Perabo (Summer), and “1923” stars Julia Schlaepfer (Alex) and Aminah Nieves (Teonna Rainwater), were absolutely hilarious in People’s Beautiful Issue, as they described just how dirty filming the Taylor Sheridan shows can be.

Landon, who plays everyone’s favorite Texan cowgirl, joked that the photo and video shoot for People was the first time she had taken a shower and “put makeup on for the first time in four years.”

“At the end of some days, it’s like, what’s the point? Because you were in cow poo poo all day and you’re going to be in cow poo poo the next day,” Landon told the outlet. “There were days when we were literally covered in sh*t from head to toe.” Apparently the dirt is so bad that Landon bought a portable shower device that allows her to have a tiny shower or sit in a small soaking tub.

Asbille had a slightly different experience, saying “there’s usually dirt and blood involved” in the filming of “Yellowstone.” Following those intense filming days, Asbille says “there is a physical and emotional cleanse.”

But things are only really a concern when the cast has to head into town after leaving set. Perabo said that she cleans herself up for the locals, mainly. “In case I have to stop and get gas or something, it’s hard to explain in the little town where we work, if your face is covered in blood, one of those guys will ask if you need some help,” Perabo told the outlet. Nieves had one of the most brutal final scenes in “1923,” that saw her covered in mud, dirt, blood, sweat, spit, and who knows what else. “We’re in the little stream. You probably couldn’t tell that I was completely drenched, but [I was] completely. I would walk and my shoes would squeak. You could see water come out of the little holes. It was bad. It was very dirty,” Nieves explained of her harrowing story in “1923.”

Despite the grit, “1923’s” Schlaepfer and Nieves love it all. “We are so dirty at the end of every filming day, but it is the greatest feeling in the world,” Schlaepfer commented. “You want to get the shot and you’re not really thinking about it too much. I enjoyed it,” Nieves seconded.
