Audio of a 911 call released Friday revealed the moments following Bronny James’ cardiac arrest.
Bronny, the 18-year-old son of basketball legend LeBron James, collapsed on court after suffering cardiac arrest and was rushed to the ICU Monday morning. Reports later confirmed he was discharged from the hospital Thursday and is recovering at home in stable condition.
An unnamed person at the USC Galen Center called the emergency line at 9:26 am with a demand to “Get an ambulance here immediately,” according to the audio. The operator sent dispatch to find James, who was unconscious at the time. The caller confirmed to the operator there were no medical personnel at the scene.
“We need an ambulance here immediately,” the caller said.
“Okay, sir,” the operator responded.
“Listen, listen, get an ambulance here now,” the caller said.
“Is there a doctor on. scene with them or a registered nurse?” the dispatcher asked.
“No, there is no doctor here,” the caller said.
“Okay, help is already on the way, okay? Get next to him please,” the dispatcher said.
Doctors at Cedars-Sinai Medical Center said he was alert by the time he entered the ICU due to the work of the paramedics, TMZ reported.
His father released a statement Thursday about his son’s medical emergency. (RELATED: REPORT: LeBron James’ Son Bronny Collapses After Suffering Cardiac Arrest)
“I want to thank the countless people sending my family love and prayers,” James tweeted Thursday. “We feel you and I’m so grateful. Everyone doing great. We have our family together, safe and healthy, and we feel your love. Will have more to say when we’re ready but I wanted to tell everyone how much your support has meant to all of us!”
Doctors are still trying to determine the cause of the cardiac arrest, TMZ reported.
Bronny graduated from Sierra Canyon High School in Los Angeles, California and committed to playing basketball with the Trojans at University of Southern California. 247Sports had Bronny as a four-star recruit with a 95 player rating.
