Hollywood actress Jennifer Garner said at least one of her kids is already grateful that she kept them all from joining social media.
She made the comments during an interview with Savannah Guthrie and Hoda Kotb on “Today” Tuesday. The two hosts asked her how she kept the kids off social media without them hating her.
“I just said to my kids, ‘Show me the articles that prove that social media is good for teenagers, and then we’ll have the conversation,'” Garner told the hosts.
“Oh! Oh my gosh!” replied Kotb.
“Find scientific evidence that matches what I have that says that it’s not good for teenagers, then we’ll chat,” Garner added.
“And how do they feel at this point?” inquired Kotb.
“My eldest is grateful!” responded Garner.
“Wow,” Kotb remarked.
“It’s a long haul, I have a couple more to go, so just, knock on wood! We’ll see if I really hang in there!” Garner added.
The 50-year-old actress has three children: 11-year-old Samuel, 13-year-old Seraphina, and 17-year-old Violet.
Garner previously made headlines when she said that she had begun taking her family to church every Sunday just like she used to in her youth after appearing in a film with religious themes.
“I grew up going to church every Sunday of my life, and when I did move to L.A., it wasn’t something that was just part of the culture,” she explained at the time. “But it didn’t mean that I lost who I was.”
In the newest interview, Garner offered blunt advice for Guthrie, who asked how she kept her children from joining social media.
“Just don’t!” she said.
