Nashville hotel manager charged with assault after guest awoke to find him allegedly sucking on his toes

A guest at a Nashville, Tennessee, hotel says that he was shocked to find the manager sucking on his toes when he awoke during his stay.

The 52-year-old manager has been charged with assault and aggravated burglary.

Peter Brennan told WKRN-TV that he was awakened at about 5 a.m. on March 30 by a bizarre sensation on his foot. He confronted him and later told investigators that he recognized him as one of two employees who came to his room earlier that day to resolve an issue with his television.

Police identified the suspect as night manager David Neal. When they questioned the man he admitted that he had gone into the room but claimed that he had done so because he smelled smoke and wanted to check on the guest.

Investigators noted that Neal did not report the smoke smell to security and there were no other reports of such a smell.

Neal also claimed that he threw the key to the room away, and police were not able to retrieve it.

“All my life you just have that sense of security, and that sense of peace, right? It’s not like you’re camping, and you have to kind of keep one eye open,” Brennan said.

“You have that security that’s yours, and when you close your eyes, you feel like you’re safe, and you’re protected, and it was a complete violation,” he added.

Brennan is filing a lawsuit against Hilton Hotels and says that Neal had a prior criminal history including involuntary manslaughter. His attorney, Michael Fisher, said that Neal had been convicted for shooting his roommate during a fight in 1996, in addition to other charges of forgery and drinking and driving.

“When Hilton hired this person, they had to have known,” said Fisher. “They have to do background checks to know, and the fact that they would put somebody like that in a position where they have the ability to clone keys, have the ability to get into a guest’s room.”

Brennan says he suffers from PTSD and has trouble sleeping after the incident.

A spokesperson for Hilton released a statement about the incident to Fox News Digital.

“The safety and security of our guests and team members is our highest priority,” read the statement. “We are working closely with the Metropolitan Nashville Police Department, and, as part of company policy, we do not comment on ongoing investigations.”

Neal was jailed on a $27,000 bond after he was arrested at his home in Lebanon.
