Taxistas Agreden a Conductores de Uber En Cancún

Los taxistas en Cancún han estado atacando a los conductores de Uber y hasta turistas en un intento por mantener un monopolio de facto en el sector del transporte. Los taxistas han usado bates, piedras, cuchillos e incluso pistolas para intimidar y atacar a los conductores de la aplicación de viajes compartidos y, en ocasiones, a los turistas que usan el servicio.

En el ataque más reciente este fin de semana, un grupo de taxistas que protestaban afuera de un hotel en la zona turística de Cancún agredieron físicamente a un conductor de Uber y se pelearon con otros en medio de la calle.

Un video compartido por periodistas locales capturó el momento del ataque, donde las autoridades no hicieron nada para detener el ataque donde una turba de conductores golpeó repetidamente al conductor de Uber frente a turistas aterrorizados. El conductor logró darse a la fuga ya que se podía ver a algunos turistas alejarse en estado de shock.

También la semana pasada, otro video capturó el momento en que una turba de taxistas que portaban palos peleó con un conductor de Uber mientras un oficial de policía se quedaba mirando.

El ataque más dramático ocurrió a principios de este mes cuando un taxista de 53 años disparó varios tiros contra dos conductores de Uber que estaban recogiendo pasajeros en el resort Casa Maya en Cancún. Si bien el tiroteo desató temporalmente el terror entre los turistas, los funcionarios de la ciudad de Cancún afirmaron que el taxista había usado una pistola de perdigones y no un arma de fuego real.

Como ha informado Breitbart Texas, los ataques han estado en curso durante varios meses desde que Uber en México pudo obtener una orden judicial que le permitiera operar en el estado de Quintana Roo. Esa orden judicial se produce después de que los funcionarios del gobierno intentaran evitar que operen allí alegando que no tienen licencia. La intensidad de los ataques obligó al Departamento de Estado de Estados Unidos a emitir una alerta de viaje a principios de este año.
