Congressional Delegate Stacey Plaskett (D) was forced to correct herself on Sunday after declaring that former President Donald Trump “needs to be shot.”
Plaskett, who represents the U.S. Virgin Islands and sits on the House Intelligence Committee, reacted to the Trump indictment by asserting that Americans should not feel safe knowing Trump had, or could have again, access to America’s top secrets.
“You know, having Trump not only have the codes but now having the classified information for Americans and being able to put that out and share it in his resort — with anyone and everyone who comes through — should be terrifying to all Americans,” Plaskett said.
“And he needs to be shot — stopped,” she continued.

Plaskett went on to attack all Republicans, falsely claiming the GOP wants a two-tiered justice system that Republicans can abuse.
“This is a reckless man who believes that he is above the law, that the rules do not apply to him, and that’s the thing that I am concerned about with many of my colleagues in the GOP,” she said.
“They believe that there is a two-tiered system, but the two-tiered system is not to punish them more,” she claimed. “They want it to allow them to get away with more than everyday Americans. Causing Americans to distrust the FBI, the Department of Justice — it’s all a mechanism, and all, you know, part of their propaganda.”
But, despite her claim and the apparent Freudian slip aside, prosecutors have not alleged that Trump inappropriately shared the intelligence stored in the documents found at Mar-a-Lago.
Plaskett is the same congresswoman who tried to force journalist Matt Taibbi to divulge his “Twitter Files” sources earlier this year. She later accused him of perjury and threatened him with jail time. There is no evidence, however, that Taibbi committed perjury when he testified before Congress earlier this year.
