McLaren Golf’s first clubs are finally here, with F1 racing team and supercar manufacturer McLaren officially launching the venture Wednesday evening, doing so at a launch party connected to the ongoing Cadillac Championship and this weekend’s Miami Grand Prix where they announced their first golf clubs.

The luxury car company unveiled two sets of clubs under their McLaren Golf brand: the McLaren Golf Series 1 and Series 3 irons.

Justin Rose, who is the first global ambassador for McLaren Golf and also reportedly invested into the venture, debuted the clubs Thursday at the Cadillac Championship at Trump National Doral in Miami. (RELATED: Former Cowboys QB Tony Romo Fails To Qualify For Golf’s US Open)

The company’s first iron designs center on Metal Injection Molding (MIM) to achieve a high degree of precision. While standard casting or forging has limits, MIM has become more prevalent in the golf industry over the last 10 years because it enables engineers to produce intricate internal structures and succeed in much stricter tolerances.

On each clubhead, a structural mesh is on the back, which adds support and trims mass at around 2-3 grams. The pattern of the mesh is a salute to the car designing roots of McLaren, with it resembling structures that are placed on McLaren supercars such as the 750S and GTS.

The Series 1 features a classic muscle-back profile and a flat sole designed to facilitate shot manipulation. Engineers improved the design by utilizing a progressive center of gravity that shifts from low-to-high in the long irons to heel to center in the short irons. Additionally, the set employs a progressive offset to assist golfers reduce right-side misses with the longer irons.

Engineered for elite ball strikers, these clubs offer enhanced ball speed and greater stability compared to a standard forged muscle-back.

The long irons are engineered to prevent shots from leaking right, whereas the short irons are for a neutral flight.

The Series 3 is classified by McLaren as a “performance cavity-back” within the players distance bracket. This model incorporates an internal toe weight and a second weight housed in a central carbon fiber bonet, which serves to centralize the center of gravity and provide both A and B head weight options.

These clubs cater to a broad spectrum of skill levels, ranging from mid-handicap golfers seeking additional ball speed to more advanced players in search of a suitable long iron alternative.

To enhance forgiveness and optimize how the ball moves through the grass, the Series 3 sole is built with increased camber and significant relief in the heel area.

The Series 1 and Series 3 irons from McLaren Golf are now available in North America, Europe and South Korea, with the clubs priced at $375 per head.
