A man who broke through security at the “Today” show Thursday allegedly lunged at co-host Craig Melvin while yelling a racial slur.
The intruder, who has not yet been identified, made it past a security checkpoint around 9 a.m. at New York City’s Rockefeller Center and began asking for meteorologist Al Roker, TMZ first reported.
When the man couldn’t find Roker, he allegedly lunged at Melvin while shouting out the N-word, Variety reported.
The New York City Police Department told JS in a statement that officers “responded and placed an unidentified individual into custody.”
There were no injures, and the NYPD said the investigation is ongoing.
NBC News did not immediately return a request for comment.
