“Saturday Night Live” star Michael Che slammed some of the writers behind “The Roast of Kevin Hart” in a series of posts shared on Instagram Tuesday.

Che laced into the writers with scathing remarks about the nature of their jokes. Che was initially scheduled to perform at the roast but two sources connected to the production told Variety that SNL scheduling conflicts prevented him from doing so.

“White guys and black people joke different,” Che wrote on social media. “Black guy roast like, ‘look at this nigga shoes!’ White roasts are like, ‘Slavery, math, slain teens, sex crimes, slurs, family secrets.’ White guys don’t give a fuck about they shoes.”

Che’s message appeared to point to the roast’s string of edgy jokes, many of which leaned heavily on racial humor.

Like any roast, the “Roast of Kevin Hart” blurred the line between insults and humor, with racial jokes surfacing throughout the night.

Host Shane Gillis mocked Hart’s height with references about slavery and lynching, and Hinchcliffe’s commentary included a joke about the late George Floyd.

Che’s former “Saturday Night Live” co-star, Pete Davidson, made reference to the N-word during his time at the microphone.

Che didn’t direct his remarks at a particular comedian or writer on the roster, but he did point fingers at some of those responsible for the content delivered that night.

“Let’s do a roast celebrating the career of the most successful black comic in the last 10 years,”  Che wrote on Instagram.

A total of 17 credited writers lent their talents to the roast, and Variety reported that several of them are black.

Representatives for Netflix did not issue a comment to the outlet.
