MS NOW’s “Morning Joe” host Joe Scarborough took a jab at President Donald Trump for falling “hook, line and sinker” for the 2020 “rigged election” theory “the Russians” pushed after spotting a key detail in one of the newly declassified intelligence documents on Friday.
“I want to go back and read the document on Russia, because you gotta love this,” Scarborough said before reading from a document.
“Russian actors have circulated narratives about voter fraud resulting from mail-in balloting and called some U.S. primary voting processes rigged by the Democratic Party,” Scarborough read.
He continued saying, “where basically the intel community, and this was Donald Trump’s intel community in 2020, admitting that Donald Trump was using Vladimir Putin’s talking points.”
Scarborough’s mocking criticism of the president comes shortly after Trump’s primetime speech to the nation Thursday night where he pushed debunked election conspiracies.
The president also announced he declassified documents which he says shows China interference in the 2020 presidential election. However, the documents show that the Russians worked against former president Joe Biden’s campaign, whereas China “prefers that President Trump be defeated.”
“This document released by Donald Trump to prove that U.S. elections in 2020 were rigged says their aim is to defeat former Vice President Joe Biden and to ensure President Trump’s victory, the incompetence is staggering. It’s overwhelming,” Scarborough said.
He went on to claim Republicans were “freaking out” on Capitol Hill on Thursday, not wanting the president to give the speech amid Americans’ concern over gas prices and the cost of living.
“The only thing he proves is, well, let me read his words, that the ‘Russians’ aim was to defeat Joe Biden and ensure Donald Trump’s victory.’ That’s Russia,” Scarborough said. “That’s Russia, and also, of course, that the Russians were using their time-tested theory of vote-rigging in a Western democracy, which Donald Trump picked up and spouted out and accepted just hook, line and sinker.”
