Donald Trump’s first day at the UN isn’t off to a great start.
The president, who is facing a looming midterm wipeout, is trying to distract the country with a war on the reporters who cover the White House.

His bis childish behavior continued when he arrived at the UN, and snapped at CNN’s Kaitlin Collins:
So it’s an honor to be here. I’m surprised that CNN is here covering me. You shouldn’t be here. You should not- You should not be here covering me. You said you weren’t gonna cover me. You shouldn’t be covering me. But, but I will tell you, it is an honor to be at the United Nations, and we’re making a lot of progress. Our country is doing really, really well. Thank you very much, everybody.
Trump knows exactly why Collins was there.
The UN is not a White House event, and Trump’s reporter ban and press-pool retaliation apply only to the White House.
Trump has made himself the victim of his own ban by claiming that the press said that they would not cover him, when he is the one who banned MS NOW, CNN, and Politico from covering him.
The real fun came when Trump went to get on the escalators at the UN, and a journalist yelled out to him repeatedly, “be careful with the stairs.”

This was a trolling callback to 2025, when Trump came to the UN and the White House claimed the escalators were intentionally shut off while the president was on them.
Trump is playing and pretending like he is the all-powerful boss, and he was obviously hoping to use the UN as a platform for his illusion of power, but even the press is trolling him.
The more Trump tries to appear powerful, the weaker he appears.
This is a president who is diminished and diminishing even before a single vote has been cast in the midterm election.
