Interstate 70 westbound is closed in Denver after a person was hit by a driver on the interstate.

That person died at the scene, the Denver Police Department said in a 4:49 a.m. tweet, and the westbound side of the interstate is closed at Lowell Boulevard.

Traffic is being diverted on Lowell, according to the Colorado Department of Transportation, and there is no estimated reopening time.

This crash happened just a few hours after another person was hit and killed by a driver on the eastbound lanes of I-70 a few miles away near Pecos Street, Denver police reported in a 9:07 p.m. tweet.
