MS NOW’s Nicolle Wallace aired a montage of high-profile, former die-hard Donald Trump supporters expressing their current contempt for the president.
The supercut featured what Wallace described as “some of the contortions that Trump has forced some of his most rabid followers to make, in their own words,” as the MAGA movement continues to split over various issues (the Iran war and the Epstein files, as two major examples) and former Trump allies, including ex-Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) and former Fox News host Tucker Carlson, float the idea of launching a new political party.
The montage opened with conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, who once urged viewers to “support Trump or civilization will collapse,” now calling for his removal via the 25th Amendment.
Candace Owens was then shown expressing her historic support for Trump before later saying she is “completely embarrassed that I supported Trump in the past because of the fact that he completely flipped on his entire base.”
Podcaster Shawn Ryan was shown wishing Trump the best of luck to his face, before later claiming he “never even wanted Trump to win, until he was the only guy to vote for.”
And MMA cage fighter Sean Strickland, who previously called Trump a “solid fucking guy,” was shown later saying that “when you’re at a Trump rally, you’re like, ‘Oh, I could definitely see how Hitler happened.’”
After the clip ended, political analyst Rick Stengel suggested some of the criticism reflected “the proverbial rats deserting the sinking ship,” while noting “they’re deserting the ship for different reasons.” He added that some of those splitting with Trump have done so because they think the president should be acting more radically.
“All of the folks we just saw feel betrayed by Trump in one way or another,” he said. “They realized that he has no ideology at all except get attention and get money.”
