Donald Trump was branded “delusional” after making his latest boast about the economy.
During an interview on Fox News on Tuesday, the president hailed his administration’s economic performance, pointing to the rising stock market, record-high 401(k)s and strong jobs numbers ― but ignoring inflation and gas prices, which remain stubbornly high, and many Americans’ experience of a cost-of-living crisis.
“We’re doing an unbelievable job,” Trump declared.
“Costs are coming way down … I inherited very, very high costs, and they’re all coming down now. The food, the groceries, it’s all coming down. We’ve done a great job. You know, I think we should be given an A+ on the economy. I think that’s coming, people are starting to talk about it.”
People on social media did have plenty to say about Trump’s self-assessment, just not in the way he might have hoped.
