Peter Navarro, a top adviser to President Donald Trump, lit into U.S. Attorney Jeanine Pirro on Monday for not firing someone in her D.C. office who prosecuted him over his refusal to comply with a House-issued subpoena.
“Never mention her friggin’ name to me,” chirped Navarro in a fiery appearance on Steve Bannon’s “War Room” stream.
“That woman, still, refuses — refuses to fire John Crabb, the prosecutor who was involved in putting you and me behind bars, OK? So don’t you dare —,” he continued before pausing to laugh at himself.
Navarro tried to overturn the results of the 2020 election and refused to testify about such efforts to the House committee investigating the deadly Capitol riot, a move that led to contempt of Congress charges before he was eventually convicted, serving four months in jail. (Similarly, Bannon refused to comply with the panel’s subpoena before he was convicted and sentenced to four months in prison.)
Crabb, a top prosecutor on the cases against Navarro and Bannon, was reportedly demoted in the U.S. attorney’s office for Washington, D.C., last year in what was seen as part of an act of “retribution” by the Trump administration.
At Navarro’s trial, Crabb told jurors that the Trump adviser “acted as if he was above the law,” words that have apparently stuck with the election denier since.
Navarro has seemingly tried to use his grievances to pile onto Trump’s frustration with Pirro after she decided to drop the charges against a former Olympian accused of damaging the Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool.
Trump, who said he’s yet to determine whether he’ll fire Pirro, urged her to revisit “her hastily made decision” on Friday.
Navarro used his “War Room” appearance to remind Pirro that “the boss said ‘she choked’” on the Reflecting Pool case before circling back to his Crabb complaints.
“That guy is on the inside, Steve, of our Justice Department. That guy was responsible for so much. … He went after you. He went after me. He should be gone. Jeanine, are you listening?” Navarro said.
“I want Judge Pirro to know I had nothing to do with this. … This is Navarro,” said Bannon, who also tried to hold back laughter on several occasions.
