Former White House press secretary Karoline Leavitt tried to convince President Donald Trump’s MAGA base that they need to turn out to vote in November’s midterm elections.
But her choice of words may have helped motivate the opposition instead.
“Americans need to get out and vote like President Trump is on the ballot,” she said during a Fox News interview on Thursday evening.
Trump made similar comments several times in recent weeks.
“Pretend I’m on the ballot,” Trump said at a rally in North Carolina this week.
Leavitt’s critics on social media reached out to let her know they’ll be following her advice and voting “like President Trump is on the ballot.”
