Hollywood movie icon Arnold Schwarzenegger ripped into Democrats for ruining American cities while touting the benefits of stricter border enforcement in an interview published Thursday.
Schwarzenegger was being interviewed by Rob Lowe on his “Literally!” podcast when he made the comments.
Lowe said that being a Republican meant “in no particular order, strong military, low taxes, less government, more personal freedoms.”
“Strong law enforcement,” said Schwarzenegger.
When Lowe asked him what it meant to be a Democrat, the 76-year-old offered a critical definition.
“Ruin your cities,” he said.
“That’s what the Democrats would say. We are about ruining the cities. We want to f*** up every city in America. That seems to be the theme right now,” Schwarzenegger added.
“Why is that?” Lowe inquired.
“I have no idea,” he responded.
Schwarzenegger served as the Republican governor of California for two terms from 2003 to 2011. While some touted him as a possible presidential candidate, he was prevented from running as the Constitution does not allow for naturalized citizens to become president.
In a separate appearance on “The View,” the movie star said that border enforcement should be the first priority of immigration policy.
“You have to really have comprehensive immigration reform, and you have to look at this immigration problem in a comprehensive way. You can, first of all, I believe very strongly in having a border that no one can get through. That’s number one for me,” Schwarzenegger said.
In March, Schwarzenegger issued an impassioned appeal to Russians against their government’s invasion into Ukraine and compared it to the pain his father carried after fighting for the Nazi regime in Germany.
“Your lives, your limbs, and your futures are being sacrificed for a senseless war condemned by the entire world,” he said.
