Bob Odenkirk reprised his “Breaking Bad” and “Better Call Saul” role as questionable lawyer Saul Goodman in a quirky video PSA celebrating America’s 250th birthday.
The YouTube video, shared to Saul4Democracy, features Odenkirk’s lawyer reminding Americans that they have rights, just ahead of the July 4th celebrations.
He rhymed off a number of them, skipped the Second and Third amendments, and noted that some of them are “still surprisingly relevant.” Odenkirk then reminded Americans how lucky they are to have “rights up the wazoo,” and nodded to the veterans that made it all possible.
“Hi, I’m Saul Goodman. Did you know you have rights? Well, you do. Sure, they’re old-timey. They were written by a bunch of guys in powdered wigs and knee socks,” he quipped.
“Your rights include, but are not limited to, freedom of speech, freedom of assembly, freedom of the press, freedom against unreasonable searches and seizures, et cetera, et cetera,” Odenkirk said in the clip.
“Wow, you lucky so-and-so. Look at you, you got rights coming out the wazoo, all because a whole bunch of good people, 250 years’ worth, sacrificed everything they had for this awesome wallpaper behind me,” he said, as he pointed to the backdrop featuring the Constitution. He wrapped the video by saying, “Know your rights, and for the love of Mike, don’t ever give ’em up.”
Jonathan Banks then made an epic return as Saul’s fixer, Mike Ehrmantraut, to deliver one final nostalgic nod.
“I’m Mike, and I approve this message,” he said.
