Conservative podcaster Candace Owens gave Hunter Biden a sincere apology, telling the son of former President Joe Biden she feels bad for in her part in the scandal surrounding his drug addiction and laptop.
“I feel like I have to say, like, I’m really sorry that I contributed to that,” Owens told Biden, who appeared as a guest on the Thursday episode of her show. “Like I just feel really shitty. Like, I feel guilty because, like, hearing you talk about I mean, basically, having the worst moments of your life.”
Owens is among a group of onetime MAGA influencers who have split with President Donald Trump as his poll numbers have tanked due to the Iran war and increasing costs of everyday life for Americans.
Owens, who once called Biden a “DEGENERATE THAT SHOULD BE IN PRISON,” has been in the spotlight herself for outrageous statements and the pushing of conspiracy theories. In recent years, Owens accused France’s first lady of being a transgender woman grooming her husband when he was still a child and claimed conservative podcaster Charlie Kirk’s assassination was an “inside job.”
On Thursday’s podcast episode, Biden opened up to Owens about his recovery and the scandals that surrounded him during his addiction struggles. He expressed annoyance with conservative media that pushed stories on him and pushed claims that his damaged laptop was full of evidence of his family’s corrupt dealings.
The computer mostly contained embarrassing personal material.
He also expressed “immense gratitude for all of my life,” including the bad things.
“I wouldn’t be here, we couldn’t have this honest conversation, I couldn’t get to know you as a human being if every single thing didn’t occur behind it,” he said.
Owens told Biden that she previously viewed him “as a caricature” because she was “feeling gaslit by the political machine, convinced that it was just the left that partook in this political machine.”
She said she has grown as a person and “come a long way from that in general.”
“I did partake in just the inhumanity of just, ‘Look at this guy, at the worst moment of his life, like, with prostitutes, he’s on crack, he’s on drugs, and we should make fun of him because it makes us feel good or it makes us feel like we’re somehow beating the machine.’ And that, it was, I think a really warped viewpoint, and hearing you speak about it today, I’m just like, wow that is so gross that I partook,” Owens said,
Biden got emotional after Owen’s apology.
“For you to say that to me, I truly mean it just from a purely selfish point of view. It means the world,” Biden said. “And I didn’t, I truly didn’t come here for that.”
