Hollywood actor Chris Pratt ignited a flurry of criticism after he dedicated a Mother’s Day social media post to his current wife while not mentioning his ex-wife, Anna Faris.
Pratt posted a photo of himself with his wife Katherine Schwarzenegger, his mother-in law Maria Shriver and his own mother, Kathy Pratt, to Instagram on May 14.
“Happy Mother’s Day to all of the mothers out there,” Pratt wrote in the caption. “Especially grateful today for Katherine. You’re a wonderful partner. You’ve provided me such a blessed life. Our two daughters are so lucky to have you and you’re the best step mama to Jack.” (RELATED: Anna Faris Says Chris Pratt Told Her Before Proposing To Katherine Schwarzenegger)
Pratt went on to praise his mother. “And to my mom, Kathy, you raised us with such love and light and laughter— so grateful for you today and always.”
The Marvel actor then celebrated his mother-in law, whom he affectionately referred to as “Mama G.”
“I’m lucky to have you as a mother-in-law,” Pratt wrote.
Fans noted Pratt left out his ex-wife Anna Faris, who is the mother of his son, Jack. Some Instagram users took Pratt to task over the omission.

“Forgot someone…” Instagram user giselleduarte commented. “Happy Mothers Day Ana [sic] Farris.”
“Back at it again with the s–ty treatment of his first family,” another wrote.
“What about your first wife? … she’s being super mom raising your first child,” user malst18 wrote.
However, some Pratt fans defended the actor against claims of insulting his ex-wife and son.
“He literally said happy Mother’s Day to ALL of the mothers out there, that includes his ex, everyone calm down,” user shaynna431 commented.
“The most uncontroversial post ever, and people are still finding a way to ruin it. Great pic. Happy for you,” another user who goes by “_status_report_” wrote.
The “Guardians of the Galaxy” actor shares two daughters, Eloise and Lyla, with Schwarzenegger. The pair married in 2019 after Pratt divorced his former wife Anna Faris in 2017.
Pratt has been at the center of backlash over defending his stance on Christianity. The actor praised God at the 2018 MTV Movie Awards, encouraging the audience to “love” God back. The actor also garnered pushback after he was absent from a virtual event for President Joe Biden’s 2020 campaign, which other “Avengers” stars attended. Some on the Internet speculated his absence was evidence the actor is a closet Republican.
