After being arrested for numerous charges of kidnapping and robbery, cornerback Terrion Arnold has been released by the Detroit Lions.

The news was reported by Adam Schefter of ESPN hours following Arnold being granted both a bond and jail release after he was arrested. (RELATED: Former NFL Star Chris Johnson Reveals ALS Diagnosis That’s Already Muted His Voice)

The 23-year-old Arnold is allegedly linked to a kidnapping and armed robbery that happened Feb. 4 in Florida. According to the Detroit Free Press’ Dave Birkett, a pre-trial motion will be filed by the Largo Police Department that will see Arnold in jail until his trial begins.

With training camp on the horizon, and veterans reporting July 28, a release by the Lions is the most logical move in terms of a next step for the franchise. Due to the charges, Arnold could possibly find himself on the National Football League‘s exempt list, seeing him banned from being able to partake in team activities.

Hillsborough County (Florida) Judge Christopher Sabella set Arnold’s bond at $1 million Monday, and also included these conditions, per ESPN:

  • Arnold isn’t permitted to make contact with witnesses who are involved with the case and the six co-defendants
  • Within 48 hours, Arnold must give up his passport
  • Arnold is confined to his Tallahassee, Florida residence, with the only exceptions being any kind of business with the National Football League, legal appointments and court appearances.

The judge was asked by the state to make it required that Arnold has to have a GPS tracking device on, however, his lawyers made the argument that he wouldn’t have the ability to play in the NFL.
