A Delta Airlines passenger claims he was “downgraded” from his first class seat due to a service dog.

A man posting under the username ben_bob took to Reddit to share his grievances, explaining he was upgraded on his Saturday morning flight only to be downgraded 15 minutes later “to a worst seat than [he] previously had.”

The passenger asked the desk agent at the airport what happened to which she allegedly replied “something changed.”

“Okay, fine, I am disgruntled but whatever, I then board only to see this dog in my first class seat … And now I’m livid,” the Reddit user wrote.

The passenger posted a photo online showing a big white dog sitting in the legroom area of a seat with the pup’s owner sitting next to the dog, holding its leash.

He said he then contacted Delta support via their chat option. The airline allegedly told him there is nothing it could do and “you may be relocated for service animals.”

“There is no way that dog has spent as much with this airline as I have … What an absolute joke,” the user wrote.

“What’s the point of being loyal to this airline anymore, truly. I’ve sat back when others complained about this airline mistreating customers lately and slipping in service levels, but I’m starting to question my allegiance as well,” he continued.

The reddit post did not include details of where the flight was heading nor what airport the incident took place.

Delta Airlines has specific regulations for seating service animals, according to its website. (RELATED: Department Of Transportation Announces Revisions To Regulations Over Service And Emotional Support Animals On Planes).

“Service animals may not occupy another customer’s space at any time and should be placed in your lap or on the floor (foot space) in front of you,” the policy states.

The policy further notes if a single seat would not accommodate both a person and their service animal “without causing an obstruction,” a passenger can purchase an additional ticket for the animal to sit on the floor space there or the service animal can be placed in the area below the cabin.

Delta Airlines did not immediately respond to the Daily Caller’s request for comment.
