The Democratic primary for control over New York’s 13th Congressional District serves as a clear case study of how far-left elements within the party operate in safe urban districts.
Incumbent Democratic New York Rep. Adriano Espaillat represents the establishment wing of the party, serving as the chair for the Congressional Hispanic Caucus. Espaillat holds endorsements from New York Democratic Gov. Kathy Hochul, New York Attorney General Letitia James, and House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries. The BOLD PAC and its affiliated super PAC, BOLD America, have poured more than $2.5 million into the race to defend him.
