A Detroit Lions cornerback surrendered at a Florida jail Wednesday night to face eight felonies that could put him in prison for life.

Terrion Arnold, 23, turned himself in at the Orient Road Jail in Hillsborough County where he faces four counts of kidnapping as well as four counts of armed robbery, according to the Tampa Police Department (TPD). Investigators suspect Arnold was the primary conspirator in a February attack on three men.

The case began Feb. 1 when thieves took more than $250,000 in property from a Largo Airbnb rented by Arnold, police said. He allegedly suspected two of the victims were responsible but TPD detectives later cleared them. Two days later, Arnold and co-defendant Boakai Hilton directed two female co-defendants, Arianna Del Valle and Jasmine Randazzo, to lure one of the victims to an apartment, police alleged. Co-defendants Christion Williams and Lyndel Hudson III were allegedly hidden in a bedroom closet when the victims arrived around midnight Feb. 4. The victims claimed the two defendants grabbed them, struck them and held them at gunpoint, police said. Del Valle allegedly streamed the attack to Arnold, Hilton and defendant Freddie Hughes as they were en route.

Chief Lee Bercaw shares the following, after the arrest of Detroit Lions Cornerback Terrion Arnold:

Detectives alleged that a group chat allowed Arnold and Hilton to give instructions to Williams, Del Valle and Hudson. Arnold, Hughes and Hilton as well as an unnamed individual arrived an hour later and Arnold sent the group inside, police said. Williams, Hughes and Hudson allegedly stole belongings from the victims.

The armed suspects compelled the three men to enter their vehicle around 1:40 a.m., which immediately drove off, according to police. Williams, Del Valle and an unamed individual allegedly left in separate vehicle with Arnold behind the wheel.

Detectives arrested the other six defendants between Feb. 4 and March 21, the department said. The Hillsborough County State Attorney’s Office (HCSAO) said two have pleaded guilty and four remain jailed without bond, ESPN reported. The charges Arnold faces could lead to a sentence of life in prison if he’s convicted, according to the outlet.

The HCSAO wants Arnold held until trial, alleging he’s “a danger to the community,” NBC Sports reported. “No one has the right to take the law into their own hands,” State Attorney Suzy Lopez said in a statement to NBC News. “A dispute over missing property does not justify kidnapping, violence, or retaliation.”

EAG Sports Management CEO Denise White said Arnold denies any wrongdoing. The agency represents the NFL player. “There is no credible evidence linking Mr. Arnold to these allegations,” said White. “Instead, the government appears to be relying on testimony from multiple convicted felons who have admitted their own involvement and may have substantial incentives to shift blame in an effort to lessen their sentences.”
