Producer and screenwriter Adam McKay attacked the Democrat Party and slammed “white liberals” on the May 13 episode of “Urgent Futures.”
McKay didn’t mince words about how he felt about American politics, appearing to suggest that the modern Democrat Party doesn’t go far enough for him on certain issues in the recent interview. He turned his ire against “white liberals,” arguing they suffer from “privilege.”
“It is incredible to watch people this far down the road still say you gotta stand behind the Democrat Party. The same party that wouldn’t convict Trump of a crime after he told a crowd, ‘Go to the Capitol,’” he claimed.
“The same party where the previous presidential candidate, Hillary Clinton, literally funded Trump’s campaign.”
He went on to break down what led him to unleash on liberals.
“No one is worse than white liberals. I mean, they are the worst!” he said. “I’ve tried to talk to them about climate — they are so smug and captured.”
“And really, it boils down to privilege. I mean, when you talk to white money liberals, they’re getting a lot from this broken system.”
McKay made it clear that he shuts down rather than communicating with “white liberals.”
“So at some point, I realized these are bad faith arguments and conversations, so I don’t really do it anymore,” he said.
“I reached the same place with Republicans back in like 2006, 2007, where it’s just like — I’m not doing this anymore. So yeah, once you kind of flip that switch, and realize white liberals are full-on right-wingers, and that the Republicans are extreme right-wingers by any international definition of right-left wing — you can’t support a party that doesn’t want universal health care,” he said.

McKay continued, “The Democrats don’t have that in their party platform. Kamala, Hilary never brought it up. If you were in, like, Norway or France or Australia, and you were like, ‘we don’t need universal healthcare,’ people would be like, ‘you are a Nazi.’” (RELATED: Margaret Cho Turned Down ‘Heated Rivalry’ Over Fears Of ICE Deportation)
“So I think the U.S. is essentially an island country, and no group of people has heads full of bees more than white liberals. I mean, I’ve heard the craziest shit from white liberals,” he said.
The renowned producer, once a vocal Democrat, announced in a November 2024 that he was leaving the party as President Donald Trump’s reelection won the election, according to Variety. He reportedly said he was thinking about joining the Green Party or the Working Families Party.
McKay’s long list of credits include “Anchorman,” “Vice” and “Don’t Look Up.”
