David Foster and Katharine McPhee are dealing with a “horrible tragedy” that has forced McPhee to miss the final two shows of the “David Foster & Friends Asia Tour 2023.”
McPhee took to Instagram on Friday to share the news of her absence.
“It is with a heavy heart that I announce that I have to miss our final 2 shows of our Asia run,” she wrote in a short statement that was addressed to “Jakarta fans.”
“David and I have had a horrible tragedy in our family and at least one of us needs to get back home to our family,” she said.
McPhee didn’t provide any additional information about the tragedy that occurred. Fans immediately flooded her page with warm wishes, prayers, and messages of support.
McPhee concluded the statement with an apology to fans.
“Please know how sorry I am and how much I wish to return someday and perform for you all,” she said.
“Masked Singer” judge Nicole Scherzinger was among the first to reply by writing, “Sending my love and prayers for your family 🙏🏽❤️.”

McPhee was performing alongside 73-year old Foster as part of the tour. Foster will continue with the final two concerts of the Asia tour that are scheduled in Jakarta’s Sentul International Convention Center on Friday and Saturday, according to information found on Foster’s official website.
