A 24-year-old man was sentenced to 50 years in prison for the murder of a woman after investigators discovered a drawing with satanic symbols that included the date of the murder and coordinates where her remains were found.

Angela Bradbury was last seen alive in April 2021 in Mitchell County, Iowa.

Three months later, a teenager was exploring the Cedar River Greenbelt Trail, which connects Osage to Mitchell, and found a human skull on a stick. Investigators found the rest of her remains nearby. DNA testing determined the remains belonged to a woman, but it took until February 2022 for them to identify the victim as Bradbury.

Police were able to tie her disappearance to Nathan Gilmore of Osage after an associate of Bradbury said they saw her leaving with a “younger male.” Bradbury had been scheduled to be arraigned a courthouse on the same day as Gilmore was released on charges of trespassing.

Police obtained records that showed Gilmore had communicated via Snapchat with a male associate of his ex-girlfriend that referred to the remains of Bradbury.

“You’ll be looking like the body they found outside Mitchell boy,” he wrote, according to the criminal complaint.

When investigators interviewed Gilmore, he reportedly gave them conflicting accounts before admitting that he picked her up but had dropped her off several blocks away from the trail.

Police then obtained GPS data from Facebook showing that Gilmore had been present on the trail at about the time that they believed Bradbury had been killed.

When they served a search warrant at his home, they found a satanic shrine with the image of a goat’s head in the shape of a pentagram and blood spatters drawn on it. On that same image were the numbers associated with the date of the death of Bradbury and the coordinates where her remains were discovered.

Gilmore’s social media activity contained references to satanism and sexually explicit content but also linked to a story about Bradbury’s remains being found.

Additionally, prosecutors said that Gilmore’s home was only a five-minute drive from the trailhead where her remains were found.

Gilmore was initially charged with first-degree murder, but he was sentenced to 50 years in prison and ordered to pay $150,000 restitution to the victim’s family in a plea deal to second-degree murder.

Neighbors said that Gilmore was quiet and kept to himself. He had pet cats, but he would go through them quickly, they added.

Here’s more about the horrendous murder:
