A missing woman was found alive inside a car that was submerged in a lake by the crew hired to drag the car out onto land.
The Marion County Sheriff’s Office said in a Facebook post that the woman had been missing since Wednesday but was rescued from the submerged car on Friday, two days later.
A photograph released by the sheriff’s office showed two men pulling the woman into their boat next to the vehicle in Lake o’ the Pines.
The unidentified woman had been reported missing by the Longview Texas Police Dept.
She was hospitalized, but her condition has not been released to the public.
The vehicle, a black jeep, was first noticed in the large lake by a fisherman. It was about 40 feet away from Woody’s Camp Boat Ramp.
“We do not know how long the Jeep was in the water,” said Capt. Chuck Rogers to NPR.
The fisherman stuck around until the woman was discovered by the tow truck driver, and he aided the man in rescuing the woman.
Although she had been missing for two days, she had only been reported missing to law enforcement hours before she was found in the lake at about 12:30 in the morning.
Longview is about 24 miles away from the lake.
“Given the details of this case, we are unable to release any information at this time,” said Melissa Dobbs, a Longview police records administrator.
Police said the investigation was ongoing and that there was nothing yet to indicate that the incident was “anything more than an accident,” according to Rogers.
