Margaret Cho admitted she declined a big career opportunity over fears that she would be detained at the Canadian border.
The famous comedian said she regretted turning down a role on “Heated Rivalry” during the May 12 episode of the “I Never Liked You” podcast.
“There’s things that I haven’t done that I should’ve done,” she said.
“Last year, I got a pilot script for a show that I really loved, but it shot in Canada, and I was so scared because I’m so vocal about hating ICE and hating this administration,” Cho said on the podcast.
“I was like, I will get detained at the border and I will be put in ICE detention if I go,” she claimed.
Cho expressed that the situation weighed heavily on her, and admitted it wasn’t easy for her to say no.
“I was struggling over it,” she said.
“I had to talk to all of these people about it. And I was super upset about it, and I said no. And it was Heated Rivalry,” she revealed.
Podcast hosts Matteo Lane and Nick Smith gasped when she revealed the show she declined was the hit HBO Max LGBTQ hockey series.
“I know, isn’t that horrible?” she exclaimed. “The pilot was beautiful, and I was like, I want to do this.”

Cho was asked if she was able to watch the show after coming so close to starring in it, and the actress and comedian made it clear that despite being disappointed that she wasn’t involved, she was a true fan of the series.
“I’ve hosted some rewatch parties and it kills me,” Cho said.
“Like it kills me because – and it’s all because of Trump,” she said. (RELATED: ‘Euphoria’ Star Blames ICE, Slams Reports She Was Non-Compliant Aboard Plane)
Though she missed her first shot at the show, Cho said that she “asked them,” and hinted she may appear in Season 2.
