A shocking incident from a school bus in Maryland on Monday afternoon was caught on surveillance video.
The bus was dropping off children from the Prince George’s County Alternative Middle School in Suitland, an unincorporated community of about 25,000 people one mile from Washington, D.C.
Three masked teens jumped on the bus after it made a stop and a girl got off, leaving a 14-year-old boy as the last passenger.
One of the teens pointed a gun at the boy’s head and pulled the trigger. When it jammed, the assailant then pointed it at his chest and pulled the trigger two more times.
The gun jammed each of the three times.
Police said they found three live rounds on the bus.
After the gun jammed, the 14-year-old was beaten instead.
When the three teenagers ran off after the beating, the driver moved the bus to a safe location.
Martin Diggs, head of the bus drivers’ union, described the incident to WLS-TV.
“They pulled the trigger three times, but for some reason, by the grace of God, the gun didn’t go off and bullets flew out of the gun,” Diggs said.
WLS reported that multiple sources confirmed the incident was caught on surveillance video.
Diggs said that the bus driver is terrified to return to work after the incident and fears retaliation by the assailants. He is demanding more security.
No arrests have been made in the shocking incident but a spokesperson for the Prince George’s County Police Department said they are actively seeking to identify the attackers.
Police said the 14-year-old suffered minor injuries.
“We are outraged as a district. Horrified that this incident did occur,” said Charoscar Coleman, an associate superintendent of the district.
