The May 12 episode of “The Late Show” took an unexpected turn when Pedro Pascal requested a kiss from Stephen Colbert.
“The Last Of Us” star was introduced to promote his film, “The Mandalorian & Grogu,” but he made it clear that there was something else he wanted to do first. The actor sat down, cheekily pouted his lips, then patted them with is fingers to suggest he wanted a kiss. Pascal raised his eyebrows and continued pointing at his lips as Colbert spoke.
“Glad to have you back. People may not know this…” Colbert said.
Pascal refused to engage in the conversation and continued prompting for a smooch. Colbert stopped mid-sentence, leaned in, and kissed the actor on the lips.
“I got jealous!” Pascal exclaimed, as the audience roared.
Colbert, seemingly unfazed by the interaction, quickly replied, “What? No need – anytime.”
“These lips will soon be free,” he noted.
Colbert’s kiss with Pascal wasn’t the first headline-making smooch of the night. As “The Late Show” inches toward its final episode, the host has turned the studio into an unexpected kiss-fest with his celebrity guests.
Moments before locking lips with Pascal, Colbert shared a playful kiss with Julia Louis-Dreyfus during her segment.
The late-night host unofficially kicked off the trend a day earlier when he kissed Jimmy Fallon on the May 11 episode, later joking about his growing list of famous on-set smooches with Hollywood stars.
When Louis-Dreyfus prompted the addition of her name to Colbert’s kiss list.
“No one’s watching,” she whispered. “It’s just between us.”
Colbert responded, “What harm is there?”
“None. What could possibly go wrong?” Louise-Dreyfus quipped, egging him on.
The two locked lips, prompting Colbert to say, “Well, the interview is going great so far. Why don’t we do another take?”
Colbert rattled off the names of famous people he has kissed on “The Late Show” during the May 11 episode, including Sally Field, Helen Mirren, Alison Janney, Jeff Daniels and Andrew Garfield.
