Country music icon Randy Travis announced the release of his first album of original music in more than 18 years Tuesday.
He shared the update while visiting the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital in Memphis, Tennessee, according to Country Insider. He teased the July 10 release of the first track “Fish On” with a simple caption that read, “Swipe to go fishing in the vault 🎣👀Catch and release on 7.10.”
Fans quickly flooded the comment section of his social media page, expressing their excitement and anticipation for the new music.
“Sharing the love of music for decades with listeners of all ages has been an honor of mine,” Travis said in a statement alongside his wife Mary, according to Country Insider.
“I feel extremely blessed.”
Travis continued, “Earlier this week, as we announced my new album and played some of the songs for the children and families at St. Jude Children’s Hospital in Memphis, I was reminded of my reason for doing it. ”
His touching explanation continued, “Gratitude and appreciation welled up as emotions I didn’t expect when stories were shared about a particular song’s impact on their lives. I hope these dusted-off songs from the vault touch folks the same old way.”

The country music star’s longtime producer Kyle Lehning remastered unheard tracks from Travis’ lengthy career in the music industry and assembled them for the upcoming release, according to Country Insider.
In addition to the release of his new music, 67-year-old Travis is also embarking on his “The More Life Tour” with guest vocalist James Dupré beginning in August.
