Registered sex offender lived with girlfriend’s corpse for 2 months and was afraid she’d come back to life, Las Vegas police say

Las Vegas police said that a registered sex offender lived with the corpse of his girlfriend for two months after he killed her, and he told them he was afraid she might return from the dead.

The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department said in a release that officers responded Wednesday to a call reporting a murdered woman at an address on Railroad River Avenue.

Police said they found the remains of Beverly Ma in a closet and that she “appeared to have been deceased for an extended period of time.”

They identified 31-year-old George Anthony Bone as a suspect. Ma had known him from the high school they both attended and had moved in with him recently. He was arrested and charged with murder after being booked into the Clark County Detention Center.

Bone allegedly told police that Ma had died in May. Court documents said that he told investigators he had placed a cooler outside of the closet so that he could be alerted if Ma rose from the dead, like he had seen in the movies.

When asked why he didn’t report her death, he allegedly said he was afraid of going to jail for being found with a dead body.

“Bone went about living at the house with Beverly deceased in the upstairs closet for the next two months and began ordering several items on Beverly’s Amazon account using her funds for his own gain,” police said.

The jailed man spoke to a reporter from KLAS-TV and admitted that he made “bad decisions” which were not logical. He said that he had found her dead and didn’t kill her.

When asked about his comments about Ma rising from the dead, he told KLAS that he had watched too many horror movies and was superstitious.

Bone was a registered sex offender, but he had not properly registered the address where he lived with his girlfriend, police say. He had been convicted on charges of sexual assault and lewdness with a child under the age of 14, according to official records.

He was also charged with failing to register properly.
