Rosie O’Donnell this week called out President Donald Trump ― not just over his policy, but for his health during an “On With Kara Swisher” podcast interview.
“Trump’s popularity is in the toilet right now, largely due to the war in Iran, his handling of the economy,” Swisher pointed out during their discussion. “People are tired of his act, I think.”
O’Donnell was quick to add that it wasn’t just the very unpopular war or the economy that’s hurting Trump.
“And the fact that he’s falling asleep, that he’s very physically ill, that he doesn’t look like he’s long for this earth, that he shouldn’t be the man in control of the nuclear code,” O’Donnell said. “Like, these are things that everyone around him knows.”
Trump has struggled to stay awake during public events. While there’s no evidence he’s “very physically ill,” as O’Donnell said, the White House has been criticized for not being forthcoming about the president’s health.
He’s suffered from swollen ankles ― aka “cankles” ― due to a condition called chronic venous insufficiency. He is frequently seen with bruising on his hands reportedly due to aspirin use and frequent handshaking.
The White House has insisted that the president is healthy.
Trump and O’Donnell have a decades-long feud, and he has continued to attack her as recently as last month in a bizarre AI-powered social media post. O’Donnell, for her part, moved to Ireland after Trump won the 2024 election, saying it was a matter of self-preservation. After she applied for Irish citizenship, Trump threatened to take her U.S. citizenship away, a power he does not have since she was born in the United States.
