Russell Wilson, a quarterback in the NFL who won a Super Bowl championship and was named to the Pro Bowl a total of 10 times, announced Wednesday in a social media video his retirement from the league and that he will be working with CBS Sports in his next chapter.

The announcement from Wilson took place two days following news breaking that he was in the process of completing a contract to become a CBS Sports analyst. He will be featured on the Sunday NFL pregame show on CBS.

“As I enter this next chapter with CBS Sports and ‘The NFL Today,’ I’m so blessed to continue doing what I love most — being around the greatest game in the world,” said Wilson. (RELATED: Warrant Issued For Brandon Aiyuk’s Arrest, Officials Say)

Playing college football at NC State, Wilson competed 14 campaigns in the league after he was selected by the Seattle Seahawks in the 2012 NFL Draft’s third round. For the first 10 years of his career, Wilson was in Seattle, winning a Super Bowl title in 2013. Following the 2021 campaign, he was moved to the Denver Broncos in a trade where he struggled for two seasons prior to going to the Pittsburgh Steelers for a year. He’d finish off his career with one campaign for the New York Giants.

Throughout his 14-year run, Wilson tossed for 46,966 passing yards, 353 touchdowns and 114 interceptions.

Thank You, Football.

I still remember watching Russell Wilson in college playing for NC State and pulling off a huge upset against Florida State, and this came after the Wolfpack were down 21-7 at halftime … now he’s retiring.
