Well, well, well, look who’s going to TV!
Russell Wilson, currently a free agent quarterback in the National Football League, is close to getting a deal finalized to join CBS Sports as an analyst, according to a report Monday from ESPN’s Adam Schefter, who cited sources.
Also having an offer from the New York Jets to become Geno Smith‘s backup, Wilson acknowledged to the New York Post in May that he could potentially join CBS Sports.
Named a Pro Bowler a total of 10 times, as well as a winner of both the Super Bowl and the Walter Payton Man of the Year Award, Wilson is now exiting the National Football League as a player to join CBS Sports as an analyst on the pregame show that features Bill Cowher, James Brown and Nate Burleson. It’s not clear whether Wilson is retiring or just pausing his career as a player.
With CBS Sports, Wilson will be replacing Matt Ryan following the ex-QB leaving the outlet over the offseason to make a comeback to the Atlanta Falcons as the team’s president of football.
The 37-year-old Wilson has passed for 46,966 yards, while also racking up 353 touchdowns in 10 campaigns with four franchises — Seattle Seahawks, Denver Broncos, Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants.
