The former New York City mayor named five key Democrats who he said will win their elections in November, including James Talarico, the Democratic candidate in Texas running against scandal-plagued state Attorney General Ken Paxton.
A Democrat hasn’t won a statewide race in the deep red state in decades, but de Blasio predicted that Talarico will pull it off.
As Hannity began spouting a bunch of right-wing talking points against Talarico, de Blasio stepped in with a reality check based on the latest Fox News polling numbers.
“Did you read your own poll today where Talarico is beating Paxton?” de Blasio asked.
“I don’t believe it for two seconds,” Hannity fired back.
Democrats are widely expected to take control of the House in November’s elections. The Senate, on the other hand, was once considered a long shot with a map that favored Republicans keeping their slim majority in the chamber. However, recent polls show a path for Democrats ― and a Talarico victory in Texas would be key to those chances.
